Crop Progress

The Crop Progress Report was released on October 12, 2021.

Corn

The report showed that 94% of the corn is mature by October 11, 2021 (up from 88% last week).  This compares to the 5 year average of 86% and 93% as of October 11, 2020.

The report showed that 41% of the corn has been harvested by October 11, 2021 (up from 29% last week).  This compares to the 5 year average of 31% and 39% as of October 11, 2020.

The report showed that 60% of the corn is rated Good-Excellent (compared to 59% last week and 61% as of October 11, 2020).

Soybeans

The report showed that 91% of the soybeans are dropping leaves by October 11, 2021 (up from 86% last week).  This compares to the 5 year average of 89% and 92% as of October 11, 2020.

The report showed that 49% of the soybeans have been harvested by October 11, 2021 (up from 34% last week).  This compares to the 5 year average of 40% and 58% as of October 11, 2020.

The report showed that 59% of the soybeans is rated Good-Excellent (compared to 58% last week and 63% as of October 11, 2020).

Wheat

The report showed that 60% of the winter wheat has been planted by October 11, 2021 (up from 47% last week).  This compares to the 5 year average of 60% and 66% as of October 11, 2020.

The report showed that 31% of the winter wheat has emerged by October 11, 2021 (up from 19% last week).  This compares to the 5 year average of 35% and 39% as of October 11, 2020.

Topsoil Moisture Condition

The report showed that 43% of the topsoil in 48 States is considered Very short or Short in moisture as of October 11, 2021.  This compares to 47% recorded last week and compares to 53% of topsoil in 48 States considered very short or short in moisture as of October 11, 2020.

The report showed that 57% of the topsoil in 48 States is considered Adequate or Surplus in moisture as of October 11, 2021.  This compares to 54% recorded last week and 47% of topsoil in 48 States considered Adequate or Surplus in moisture as of October 11, 2020.
