If you want to create a legacy and give back without having to manage governance and administration linked to your philanthropy efforts, the BMO Charitable Giving Program might be right for you. This program lets you create a named DAF with a minimum $25,000 capital contribution. A donor advised fund is a cost-effective, time saving philanthropic option because you leave all the administrative responsibilities to our program’s charitable partner, Charitable Gift Funds Canada Foundation*. Your primary focus with your DAF can be on its grantmaking distributions to areas within the community of interest to you. The donations you and others make to your DAF will also be managed by your BMO financial professional.
*The Charitable Gift Funds Canada Foundation is an independent, non-profit charitable organization and is registered as a public foundation with the Canada Revenue Agency. That means you get cost-efficient and tax-maximizing benefits.
A private foundation enables a highly structured and personal form of charitable grant making and is best suited for long-term, strategic philanthropy. We work with families to incorporate their values into foundation goals and mission statements. We can help with all tasks required to establish and sustain successful private foundation administration, governance, and multi-generational operations. BMO Trust can also play a role in large family foundations requiring additional support.
