Debbie Bongard, CIM, FCSI
Senior Wealth Advisor And Senior Portfolio Manager
As a Senior Wealth Advisor and Senior Portfolio Manager, I have been dedicated to helping my clients align their life ambitions with financial management for over 25 years. Prior to working at BMO Nesbitt Burns I worked on the institutional bond desk at Wood Gundy. After years of working at the fixed income desk, I joined my family at Nesbitt Thomson Bongard as an investment advisor. My family has been in the Toronto financial industry for over 100 years and I am grateful to have been able to learn about the business from my grandfather and my father. My family history in the business has impressed upon me the value of treating my clients like family, and it has shaped my contemporary approach to financial management.
At the Bongard Wealth Advisory Group, I aim to provide a more personal and customized style of wealth management, tailoring my client’s financial portfolio to their individual needs. I have always approached my business with an emphasis on fostering genuine relationships, leading my team with the aim of helping our clients achieve their personal goals and ambitions in life. I treat all of my clients like family and it fulfills me to be able to offer them financial security and a personal sense of well-being. I have seen firsthand, from years of experience, how good wealth management can help people, and families, achieve their dreams.
Moreover, I am always trying to improve the client experience that my team delivers. On top of my professional experience as a wealth management advisor, I also have a specialization in helping clients through major life transitions. My training in Financial Transition Planning helps me combine the money side of finance with the human side, enabling me to help clients through emotionally exhausting and overwhelming life changes.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, as I am the mother of three boys and two Labradors. In the summers, we try to spend our spare time together up north at our cottage in Pointe au Baril. This community has been a second home for my family, and I find fulfillment volunteering there and giving back. I am currently a board member of the West Parry Sound Hospital Foundation as well as the chair of their Northern Angel Council. I am also actively involved with Camp Kirk, an initiative that helps kids with special needs experience the wonders of summer camp and gives them a chance to build their self-esteem.

I have been working with the Bongard Wealth Advisory Team for the last nine years. I am a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder and Certified Financial Planner® (CFP) and a Life Insurance Advisor. I work on the team as a Portfolio Manager and Associate Investment Advisor working with Debbie and Mark to manage our client's funds on a discretionary basis, help to create wealth plans for clients and everything in between. I also write many of our blog posts and help to curate our newsletters that are sent out of a regular basis.
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife Nadia and spending my time travelling, cooking and remaining active playing basketball, soccer and skiing.
Mark Parent, CIM
I have been working in the investment industry for the last 20 years, 15 of which have been with BMO Nesbitt Burns. I knew I wanted to work in the investment industry from an early age. My mother worked at National Bank in Windsor for over 30 years and was instrumental in fueling my passion. She taught me the importance of treating people, and their wealth, with respect.
Outside of work I love spending time with my family. Currently, I live in Markham and have been married to my wife Concetta for 10 years. We have two energetic daughters, Victoria and Olivia, who keep us busy shuttling them from piano lessons to soccer practices. I’m also an avid sports fan, especially when it comes to baseball. In my spare time I love keeping up with the Blue Jays and play in multiple amateur softball leagues.
For over 20 years of my career, I have been working with Debbie Bongard as an Investment Representative. With more than 30 years of experience working in finance, I feel as though I have a great understanding of the industry and an aptitude for getting things done efficiently. One of the benefits of working with our team for so long is that it has given me the opportunity to really get to know our clients and therefore better assist them with whatever they may need. Helping to solve client problems is my favourite part of the job.
