What differentiates our team

Individually managed to meet your needs and objectives

Each portfolio is individually constructed to reflect your own investment policy statement, taking into account your needs, existing portfolio and any tax implications. We take the time up front to learn about you, your expectations and requirements and to explain the risks and rewards of investing.

Direct access to your portfolio managers

You will have direct access to the team responsible for managing your portfolio. You can rely on the combined investment experience of over 70 years, providing both the historical knowledge of the market and the energy to implement new ideas.

Quality of investment advice

Both of your personal portfolio managers are CFA ® charterholders, known as the gold standard of professional credentials within the global investment community. (The Economist, Feb. 2005)

Tax sensitive approach to investment

For the majority of our clients, taxation is an important factor and needs to be considered in their investment strategy.  As each portfolio is run on a stand-alone basis, we can focus on your after-tax returns.

Regular and timely communication

We monitor our accounts and investments closely. Every three months, we prepare our own Quarterly Review, which reports on what the markets have done, and how our investments are performing; it also suggests a current strategy.  At the same time, we send you a reporting package that links multiple accounts, showing both historical values and current portfolio structure.

Top ranked research in Canada

Our portfolio management efforts are supported by BMO Capital Markets' top rated research department. In its most recent survey, Brendan Wood International1, an independent consulting firm, has ranked BMO Capital Markets Research the number one research team in Canada, continuing BMO Nesbitt Burns' long tradition of excellence in research. BMO Capital Markets has been ranked first in research in every BWI survey since 1980, which represents 29 consecutive years of commitment to being the leader in Canadian equity research.

Risk supervision

Requirements to be a portfolio manager demand a proven background of experience, education and training. Your portfolio managers are also subject to some of the most strict rules and regulations in the securities industry.
