We are very clear about what we can and cannot do, as well as what we will and will not do. We are not speculative traders and we believe it is time in the market, not timing the market, that produces the best performance results. This ensures that we do not get distracted by the demands of practices such as short term trading and speculative trading. Instead we maintain a razor sharp focus on how domestic and global issues will affect your investment and financial plan.
No crystal ball exists that accurately predicts market reactions to inevitable micro and macro events. Therefore, our investment portfolios are built on a framework of discipline and process specifically designed to prevail throughout the inevitable market cycles.
We will determine if we need to call in outside expertise to address particularly complex estate, tax planning, insurance, succession planning or bank financing needs. Along with our BMO partners we work with several lawyers and accountants to collectively meet your needs. Often we act as "quarterback" as we collaborate with other professionals to service your needs.
We utilize the most comprehensive financial planning software in the industry to create a comprehensive plan unique to you. Naviplan uses your current financial circumstances to create a detailed plan for your retirement and any other personal goals and dreams you may have. Our clients discover it is a very empowering exercise and time well spent with us. It will also highlight any need to draw upon other professional services depending on the complexity of your situation. We will often quarterback these services for you.
Discretionary Portfolio Management.
90% of our clients are on the discretionary portfolio management platform. Janice Noble is the Portfolio Manager and Eva Parker is in the middle of the onerous process to become an Associate Portfolio Manager. This platform gives Janice the authority to make investment decisions on your behalf, without you having to approve every transaction. We build a comprehensive picture of you as an investor, including your current financial situation, your long-term goals, and any special circumstances. We use this information to determine your investment objectives, risk tolerances, and asset allocation, which then directs how we design your portfolio. Your investment policy statement and financial plan will be realistic, and flexible enough to accommodate your unexpected and changing circumstances.
For discretionary portfolio management, we have a fully transparent fee structure. We charge a fixed fee no matter how many transactions and no additional commission charges or administrative fees. The fee covers ongoing management, monitoring, advice, cash flow, management, and consolidated reporting and administration. We do not charge separate fees for formal financial, retirement, and estate plans. We believe this structure means that our #1 priority and interests lie in investing, building and advising on all wealth management issues.
