Senior Portfolio Manager, Senior Investment Advisor

Greg Vos is a Senior Portfolio Manager and a Senior Investment Advisor. He runs a discretionary portfolio management practice within BMO Nesbitt Burns. Greg has been with the firm for over 20 years.

Greg is South African by birth and a lawyer by training, so he comes to the investment world with a unique set of skills.

In his legal profession, Greg was exposed to a variety of business, personal, tax and estate issues. This experience has allowed him to bring a level of high expertise in strategic wealth management when working with his clients. This goes beyond the day-to-day investment management, as the team works with business owners on succession plans, entrepreneurs on corporate structure, sale agreements and families on inter-generational wealth transfer and their estates.

Having grown up in South Africa, Greg lived through Apartheid, the release of Mandela and the growth of a nation. Greg has lived in the UK, worked in the shipping industry trading commodities, travelled the world with his wife, seen recessions come and go, business successes and failures and the birth of family and the passing of loved ones. This is the fabric of life and the experience that he draws on when working with his clients.

One of the things that drives Greg is a passion to see his clients be successful. If he can help drive that success and partner with his clients in that process it is incredibly rewarding.

Flowing from that success is also the belief that he needs to give back to the community. One of his goals is to create better awareness of philanthropic causes and encourage the community and clients to participate in the process.

Greg and his wife have lived in Vancouver for over 25 years and spend their free time engaged in a host of outdoor activities from skiing and biking to windsurfing and kite-surfing.
