Cheryl Smith is a solution-oriented and empathetic Investment Advisor and Portfolio Manager with a talent for numbers, a genuine passion for helping people, and an extensive background in accounting and financial services.
Following a methodical approach, Cheryl thrives on helping clients achieve their financial goals by understanding the connection between today’s steps and the results that will follow in years to come. She helps clients define their retirement goals, creating detailed retirement plans and build customized portfolios to help them to reach their aspirations. Cheryl assists her clients with estate planning, empowering them to define their wishes for their estate and implementing strategies to turn those wishes into reality.
Having joined BMO Nesbitt Burns in 2003, Cheryl holds a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation, a Financial Management Advisor (FMA) designation and a Certificate in Advanced Investment Advice (CAIA) from the Canadian Securities Institute. Beyond the world of finance, she holds a Masters of Arts in Theology from Briercrest Seminary.
Outside of work, Cheryl’s best days are spent with her husband, her family and her furry companions – a German Shepherd and three cats. You’ll often find Cheryl immersed in nature – walking at Fish Creek Park or unwinding in her forested yard watching the birds enjoy her collection of feeders.
Stacy Soutière, DBA,, MBA, CIM®, CFP®, FEA
Senior Investment Advisor, Portfolio Manager and Financial Planner
Stacy Soutière is a highly empathetic and multi-faceted advisor with nearly two decades of experience in the financial services industry, multiple credentials, and a firm commitment to putting clients first. Stacy excels at enhancing her clients’ financial knowledge and collaborating with other specialists to create effective solutions. She prepares people for all of life’s stages and helps them manage many complex financial needs under one roof.
Stacy holds a Doctor of Business Administration degree (DBA) from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, where she researched the scarcity of female Investment Advisors and the advantages of teaming in investment management. She builds bridges between the university’s research and BMO Private Wealth to help our firm attract and retain more women advisors and improve the industry for women and the next generation. Stacy also holds an MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University and multiple financial designations: the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®), conferred by the Canadian Securities Institute; the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), conferred by the Financial Planning Standards Council; and the Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA), conferred by Family Enterprise Xchange.
In addition to helping others confidently map out their financial future, Stacy serves her community through many avenues. She is a Director at Large on the Board of Forte Musical Theatre Guild, the only professional company west of Toronto dedicated exclusively to new musicals. Stacy is also a regular blood donor with Canadian Blood Services and volunteers monthly serving lunches at Calgary’s DI Drop-in & Rehab Centre Society. As an Adjunct Professor at the University of Calgary, she serves on advisory committees to help other doctoral students. In addition, Stacy has participated in the Calgary Corporate Challenge since 2008 to improve employee engagement, promote team building and give back to the local community, most notably through the annual Calgary Corporate Challenge September Games.
In her down time, you’ll find Stacy in the mountains, swimming, snowboarding, or tackling her next Tough Mudder obstacle course. She has a soft spot for all canines, but her rescue dogs and constant companions, Wally Waffles and Rosita, rule her heart.
Mariana Cip, MBA

Mariana Cip is a driven professional with a diverse background and a passion for personal finance, investments, and portfolio management. She loves to challenge herself and is solution-oriented, kind, and compassionate. Her favorite subject at school was Math, reflecting her talent for numbers and problem-solving. Recently, Mariana graduated with an MBA specializing in Finance from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, an enriching experience that solidified her passion for the financial sector and shaped her career aspirations.
Mariana's journey has taken her across the globe, living in 7 countries and mastering 6 languages. Her extensive experience and dedication to helping clients succeed spanned various fields, including leadership and personal effectiveness, sourcing and manufacturing, and management consulting.
Mariana's goal is to create positive impact and foster financial success for Smith Soutière Wealth Management clients. She believes in cultivating long-term relationships based on trust, integrity and acting in clients’ best interest.
Beyond her professional life, Mariana enjoys fitness, tennis, and playing board games. Mariana's love for music is another testament to her dedication and discipline. She graduated from a 7-year music school specializing in violin and is currently learning to play the electric guitar.
Setareh Solati
Client Service Assistant
Setareh has been working in banking for the past three years and brings over seven years of client service experience and a strong background in relationship management. With a foundation in English from York University, she combines strong communication skills with a natural knack for problem solving and technology-oriented solutions.
Setareh is also naturally curious and tech-savvy, and she enjoys learning about new tools and finding ways to make work more efficient and client experience more seamless. Setareh’s approach is grounded in empathy, communication, and a drive to make a meaningful difference for both clients and her team.
Outside of work, she enjoys discovering new trails, going to the gym, and playing video games with her fiancé.
