Weekly "Focus" and Call Her Daddy

Bradley Goldhar - Dec 06, 2024

Until this week I had not really paid much attention to Alex Cooper of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast who was in the news during the US presidential election for interviewing Vice-President Kamala Harris. This week I attended the New York Times DealBook Summit and Alex Cooper was one of the mainstage interviewees (she was hilarious). Other interviewees included Jerome Powell, Chair of the US Federal Reserve, President Bill Clinton, and Jeff Bezos of Amazon. Call Her Daddy ranks near the top of the podcast charts with millions of listeners, and I certainly do not fit into her main demographic who are 70% women, 75% under the age of 35 (Gen Z and millennials) (ii). Podcasts are big business, as evidenced by Alex Cooper signing a US$125 million deal to move from Spotify to Sirius XM radio, which can use the help as evidenced by its share price performance. I love listening to satellite radio so maybe I’ll tune into Call Her Daddy on my drive home from work today!
