Minuk's Musings and the Seine River
Richard Minuk - Aug 09, 2024
Swimming in the Seine in Paris has been illegal since 1923 due to concerns over what the water could do to human health.
The river holds most of the city's wastewater and is continually impacted by stormwater and other pollutants. Yuck!
Following > $1 billion in investment, multiple canceled training events and a postponed men’s race, the Olympic triathlon did go ahead and the athletes swam in the Seine.
Cassandre Beaugrand of France won the women's individual triathlon. Alex Yee of Great Britain won the mens individual event.
Clean water is essential and there are companies on this vital resource.
In fact, there is an iShares Global Water Index ETF (CWW) that allows you to invest in "water" and it has experienced a WAVE of string performance of late, up almost 20% in 1 year
Some of the top holdings include:
- American Water Works: Provides water and wastewater services in the US.
- Veralto Corp: Sells products used to treat, purify, and protect the waterway, from municipal and wastewater treatment facilities to lakes, rivers, waterways and oceans
- Advanced Drainage Systems: A leading manufacturer of innovative stormwater and onsite septic wastewater solutions that manages the worlds water resources.
Hope you have fantastic weekend!
