Weekly "Focus" and the Super Bowl
Bradley Goldhar - Feb 09, 2024
Sunday’s Super Bowl game pits the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs against the San Francisco 49ers, 5-time champions who last won in 1994. The game is the 58th instalment and perhaps will go down as the Taylor Swift Bowl, considering her relationship with Travis Kelce, the star tight end on the Kansas City Chiefs. The 49ers are the slight betting favourite, and there are numerous “prop” bets that one can wager. For example, you can bet on the length of the national anthem, will the coin toss come up heads or tails and how many songs will be performed during Usher’s halftime show. The American Gaming Association estimates a record US$23.1 billion will be bet on the game, undoubtedly Taylor Swift’s chart topping music to the ears for the online betting companies and casinos. As for me, hard to bet against Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, so I expect Taylor Swift will be on the field helping to celebrate the team’s 4th Super Bowl.
