Weekly "Focus" and BBQ Season

Here’s another example of a supply chain issue. Last weekend my spouse popped into the grocery store near our cottage and noticed not a single bag of French fries in the freezer section. When she asked what happened she was told a nearby restaurant could not get enough French fries from their distributor so they resorted to buying up the store’s entire supply. With BBQ season underway hopefully this is not a sign of things to come. As far as I know there is no shortage of hot dogs and on July 4th Joey Chestnut was crowned the champion of the US Independence Day hot dog eating contest for the 15th time - he hoovered 63 Nathan’s wieners during the 10 minute competition! Interestingly, the following consumer staple companies in the table below have generally outperformed the broader stock market so far this year.
