Rachel leads the Gurney Wealth Management Team in Canmore, Alberta, bringing investment strategy and holistic wealth planning to clients and their families in the Bow Valley and across Canada and placing their interests above all else in every decision.

With more than 21 years in the industry, Rachel is known for reliability. To help clients realize their goals and honour their vision of a better world, she gains a complete understanding of their needs and values before building a customized wealth plan with a specialized team of experts. Her diligence is rewarded by many referrals from long-standing and new clients.

Career overview:

Rachel has been in the industry since 2001 with BMO Nesbitt Burns. During a hiatus from investing, she worked as a paramedic with Alberta Health Services, which helps her support clients dealing with health conditions, getting difficult diagnoses, and struggling with stress.

Education:

Rachel holds a BA in Economics and History from Western University and the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation. She recently completed her Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) certification with the CFA Institute. Licensed as a primary care paramedic Rachel does 30 hours of continuing education courses a year, specializing in aging and dementia.

Personal:

Rachel was a ski patroller for many years at Kicking Horse in Golden, BC, and Fortress in Kananaskis, sparking her interest in healthcare. She volunteers at Canmore Hospital in the long-term care and with palliative units. Rachel and her partner Derek have one young daughter, Violet, and a golden retriever, Turbo. They enjoy travelling, skiing and mountain biking in the Bow Valley and beyond.

 

Meghann Brown, CIM, PFP, BBA

By finding the right investments to suit their goals and using solid wealth management practices, Meghann strives to help hardworking families, young professionals, and business owners/entrepreneurs, facing growing financial responsibilities, balance upside potential with downside risk mitigation to achieve financial success on their terms.

Meghann has been with Nesbitt Burns since 2014 and earned her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Mount Royal University in Calgary. Prior to her current role, she spent two years on the retail banking side of BMO, which allowed her to gain knowledge in lending and retail banking. She holds the Chartered Investment Management (CIM®) designation as well as the Personal Financial Planning (PFP®) designation and Associate Portfolio Manager accreditation. Focused, detail-oriented, disciplined, creative and inquisitive are attributes Meghann exemplifies in work.

A true local of Canmore since the age of three, Meghann was raised in the outdoors. She grew up competing in downhill ski racing, where she raced at the FIS level and had the opportunity to represent Team Alberta. Meghann’s lifelong passion for skiing has taught her the importance of dedication in crafting her fundamental skills. She continues to enjoy many athletic pursuits and outdoor activities including skiing, biking, hiking, paddleboarding, golfing, scuba diving (PADI certified) and camping in the backcountry.

When not helping clients, this active mother of two, along with her husband Tony a golf professional at Stewart Creek Golf & Country Club in Canmore, are feeding their adventurous spirits as a family playing in the mountains.

Chris Fader, B.Comm., CIM

Senior Associate

Chris has worked in the financial services industry for over 30 years, with the majority of his career spent at full service and self-managed brokerage firms.   Over the course of his career he has also acquired knowledge in corporate trust, transfer services and retail banking.   Chris's deep operational knowledge as well as his licensing as a Investment Representative (IR) have been a valuable addition to the team in 2020.
Chris was born and raised in the Halifax area and came to Alberta after graduating from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Finance. He’s completed numerous industry courses and in 2020 completed the Medical Terminology Course at Mount Royal University.

Chris and his wife Bonnie live in Calgary. He volunteers with various organizations, his main passions being the Emergency Department at the South Health Campus, Inn from the Cold and the Calgary Youth Justice Society.
