Gary Chan didn’t always see himself in finance. Growing up, he thought he’d be a police officer or work in the trades. He had an early curiosity about investing and managing money, but he didn’t know how to turn that interest into something real.
That changed in 2017 when he joined the bank as a teller. Moving through the financial world, Gary then spent two and a half years as an Investment Representative. There, he handled a high volume of client interactions, gaining firsthand experience in financial problem-solving; he also developed a desire to work with a team that valued personalized service.
That’s why he joined Pelegris2 Wealth Management. Gary joined the team in 2023. Working as a Sales Associate, he aims to be a key point of contact, ensuring that every client request is handled with precision, urgency, and care. Whether it’s transactions, administrative roadblocks, or answering complex questions, Gary wants clients to get clear, reliable answers.
For Gary, the best part of his job is simple: hearing positive feedback from those he serves. That’s what makes the work meaningful, knowing that what he does actually makes a difference. Like so many other Canadians, Ali Sethy finds purpose in community building. His motivation for working in finance did not stem from a deep fascination with numbers or markets, but from a desire to fill a gap he saw in his own community: a lack of financial literacy. Growing up, Ali witnessed how poor financial planning left many vulnerable, and the frustration of seeing these challenges pushed him to pursue a career where he could make a difference.
After studying Global Business Management at Ryerson University, Ali began his career at BMO InvestorLine, where he gained experience with a variety of financial products, including GICs and mutual funds. But his drive has always been about more than financial products. He sought a way to help clients take control of their financial livelihoods, which led him to The Pelegris2 Wealth Management Group, where he found an investment ethos that mirrored his own values; that is, a commitment to empowering people to take control of their financial future.
Since joining the team, Ali has been a vital point of contact for clients, providing high-quality administrative and organizational services. Whether assisting with issuing cheques or wire transfers, helping with account updates, or answering questions about statements, Ali ensures that every inquiry is handled with precision and care. His goal is to provide clients with clear, timely answers, helping them navigate any financial or administrative task with ease.
Ali’s desire to deepen his expertise is reflected in his decision to pursue his CFA designation. Beyond his current accreditations, Ali believes the CFA will allow him to further contextualize the numbers in a way that empowers clients to make meaningful decisions. “The numbers matter,” he says, “but they are just part of the story. What they represent—security, opportunity, and the freedom to live life without financial uncertainty — this is what truly drives me.”
