Paul, as the founder of Hamilton & Associates, is responsible for strategic direction of the business, client specific portfolio design, investment strategies and implementation. Paul chairs and directs the Hamilton & Associates Investment Committee.
 
Paul's professional credentials include a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants (FCPA), Fellow of Chartered Accountants (FCA), Canadian Investment Manager (CIM), Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI®), Senior Portfolio Manager, he is able to offer Canadian Option trading, and is a Senior Investment Advisor at BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc.
 
Paul was a past Chair of the Board of Directors, and member of the Executive Committee of Lionsgate Hospital Foundation.
 
Paul has been recognized as having brought honour to the profession of Chartered Professional Accountants, Chartered Accountants, through his professional achievements as an outstanding investment advisor and portfolio manager, as well as his work in our community. Paul was awarded the honour of Fellowship by the profession in 2016.

Gary Brookes, BA

Senior Investment Advisor

Gary’s focus is to provide long term investments for growth oriented clients and specialty income portfolios for those contemplating or currently enjoying retirement. Client relationships can be Advisory, Managed or a combination of both.
 
He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a BA in 1971.  Gary is licensed in securities and options and has also completed the Canadian Investment Finance (CIF), and Partners, Directors and Officers courses. 

Gary helps clients achieve their goals with proper planning, attention to detail, ongoing counsel and guidance, with exceptional client service by his qualified and dedicated team at Hamilton & Associates. Gary is also is a key contributor to the Investment Committee of Hamilton & Associates.
 
Gary contributes to our community by serving on the Investment and Finance Committee of The Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC and as president of the Delta Police Pipe Band Society where he is a piper in the pipe band.

John Gjervan, B.Comm., CPA, CA, CIM®, FCSI®

Senior Investment Associate

John is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant, with years of experience as a financial officer and director of several public and private companies. He also is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) and a holder of the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation.

John is one of the Investment Advisors on the team who works closely with clients, sharing his years of experience on a daily basis.  He also sits on Hamilton & Associates Investment Committee.

John is a strong community contributor as Past President of The Hamber Foundation, which is committed to the betterment of BC by supporting events in the arts and culture, athletics, and health and education.  John is also a past Chair of York House School (YHS) and a member of the YHS Foundation’s board.

Scott Sutherland, BSc, CFA

Associate Investment Advisor, Associate Portfolio Manager

Scott joined BMO upon completion of his Bachelor of Science in Economics degree at the University of Victoria in 2011. He started his career working on the operational and administrative side of the Private Client Group at BMO Nesbitt Burns, before moving his focus to managing complex transactions for High Net Worth, Ultra High Net Worth, and Institutional clients.  
 
Scott earned his Chartered Financial Analyst Designation in 2015, and joined Hamilton & Associates in 2020, where he manages a select group of clients and sits on our Investment Committee. 
 
Scott is an avid golfer and hockey player, and is a committed animal lover.

Karen Lau, B.Comm., CFA

Associate Investment Advisor, Portfolio Manager

Karen graduated from UBC in 2010 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree (specializing in Finance) and a minor degree in Psychology. She joined BMO Nesbitt Burns upon graduation and started her career learning the operational and administrative side of the wealth management business.


Karen joined the Hamilton & Associates team in 2015 shortly after earning her Chartered Financial Analyst designation. She has also completed the Certificate in ESG Investing program under the CFA Institute in 2022. Karen assists Paul Hamilton in the design, implementation and monitoring of client specific portfolios, and sits on the Investment Committee.

Lynn Delahey, B.Comm., CFA

Senior Investment Associate

Lynn graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan, and has over 25 years of experience in the investment management business, primarily as a Partner and Fixed Income Specialist with Phillips, Hager and North. 
 
Lynn joined Hamilton & Associates in 2011, and brings to our team her impressive background experience. Lynn works closely with Paul Hamilton, supporting him in the design, implementation and daily monitoring of client specific portfolios and sits on the Investment Committee.
 
Lynn has been a contributor and supporter of literacy and immigration issues through her work with Frontier College and African Women’s Group.

Peter Kaye, BA, CFA

Associate Portfolio Manager

Peter joined Hamilton & Associates upon graduation from UBC with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science in 2014. In university Peter focused his studies on the intersection of finance, economics, and politics.
 
Peter supports the Hamilton & Associates team by conducting in depth research on our investments, and sits on our Investment Committee.

In his free time Peter can be found hiking, kayaking, sailing or horseback riding around the natural beauty of BC, often followed closely by his dog Taika. Peter also combines his love of BC's nature with his knowledge of markets in his role as a member of the Audit and Finance Committee of the Nature's Trust of British Columbia, and is also a director & advisor to of UBC's student-run equity research society, Westpeak Research.

Maggie Lui, BBA, CIM®

Senior Client Service Associate

Maggie graduated from Simon Fraser University with a double concentration in Finance and Human Resources.  She started as a trader in a discount brokerage firm and has gained over 20 years of solid investment knowledge and excellent client service skills, along with completion of the Derivatives Fundamentals Course and the Options Licensing Course.  Maggie joined the Hamilton & Associates team in 2011 and has successfully completed the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation.  Maggie plays a key role in maintaining high client service standards and provides guidance to the rest of the admin team.


Maggie and her husband have two beautiful kids. They live in Richmond buzzing with various children's activities. Maggie enjoys swimming and badminton; she also volunteers at Bingo night at her children school parish as an Assistant Manager. Her family loves exploring beautiful British Columbia in their spare time.

Pey-Ming Liu, BA, PFP

Pey-Ming graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. She has over 30 years of experience in the investment industry on the operational and administrative side of the business, and has completed the Professional Financial Planning (PFP) Course and the Canadian Options Course. In 2021, Pey-Ming joined the Hamilton and Associates team, bringing over her wealth of industry knowledge and experience in working with High Net Worth clients.

Pey-Ming has been a supporter of community initiatives and progressive causes through her membership with Katari Taiko, Canada's first modern Japanese drumming ensemble.

Caroline Kho

Senior Client Service Associate

Caroline started her career when she joined BMO Nesbitt Burns in 2016. Fascinated by the dynamic and fast-paced wealth management business, she completed her Canadian Securities Course and the Conduct and Practices Handbook to become an Investment Representative. After taking time off to further her post-secondary education, Caroline joined Hamilton & Associates in 2023.

Outside of the office you can find Caroline chasing her love of the outdoors whether it be skiing, cycling, or hiking in and amongst the local trails and mountains. She is passionate about learning and is always looking for the next best travel destination or local restaurant to try.  

Matthew Froese

Client Service Associate

Matthew graduated in the spring of 2022 from Simon Fraser University with a bachelor's degree in Economics. During his time at SFU, Matthew was a member of the Simon Fraser Economics Student Society, helping him to connect with other like-minded individuals within his graduation class. Matthew prides himself on his athletic background, playing high-level lacrosse and basketball, along with being an avid golfer.

Matthew is excited to build and maintain relationships with the clients he serves after recently joining Hamilton & Associates in the fall of 2022. Matthew currently focuses on the administrative and operations side of the Hamilton & Associates group while he continues to grow in the industry. He values his education as he is currently taking industry-specific courses, helping him learn more about the wealth management business.

Jason Quan, M.Sc., CFA

Client Service Assistant

Jason graduated from UBC in 2021 with a Bachelor of Commerce, specializing in Accounting. He further advanced his education by completing a Master of Science in Finance at Simon Fraser University in 2023. During his tenure at SFU, Jason was actively involved as an analyst and trader with the SFU SIAS endowment fund, focusing on the consumer staples sector within the Canadian Equity asset class. His profound interest in portfolio management and sales led him to join Hamilton & Associates as a Client Service Assistant in the winter of 2023.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Jason is an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying powerlifting, hiking, and road biking. He also dedicates his time as a volunteer with the CFA Vancouver Society.

Sue Noorloos

Director, Estate Planning, BMO Private Wealth

Sue advises high net worth individuals and families on specialized estate and trust solutions as part of an intregrated wealth planning team. She advises clients on their complex estate planning to help them understand the different strategies that they can use to preserve family relations and maximize their wealth.

Prior to joining BMO Private Wealth, Sue gained invaluable experience at an Ontario law firm, where her practice focused on private client services including estate planning, trusts, wills and estate administration ranging from routine matters to complex multi-jursidictional estates. Sue previously worked with a large national trust company where she dealt with high net worth clients and advised them on their complex estate planning.

Phil Haines, CPA, CA

Director, Tax Planning, BMO Wealth Planning

Phil assists high net worth individuals and families in structuring their personal and corporate affairs in a tax-efficient manner. Leveraging more than a decade of experience in the tax and assurance advisory space for private companies and their owners, Phil knows that his clients care about the “big picture” and how taxation factors into that from a practical perspective. His areas of expertise include owner-manager compensation, corporate reorganizations & divestitures, business succession, estate planning, charitable giving, and other related tax planning matters.
