Ian de Verteuil,
Global head of Research at BMO Capital Markets
Mr. de Verteuil joined BMO Capital Markets' predecessor firm Burns Fry in 1987. Over his career as an analyst, he achieved top rankings in three sectors*: consumer products, insurance and banks. Ian holds a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from McGill University and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
Brian Belski,
Chief Investment Strategist at BMO Capital Markets
Brian works out of both New York and Toronto and provides equity portfolio strategy for the U.S. and Canada at the investment and corporate banking division of Bank of Montreal.
Brian has more than two decades in the industry and a reputation as one of the best performing market strategists in the U.S. He is an asset to BMO global equity research team and an invaluable resource for our institutional clients and private client division.
Douglas Porter, CFA - Managing Director
Economic Research at BMO Capital Markets
Douglas Porter has analyzed and written about trends in the Canadian and global economies and financial markets for over twenty years. His responsibilities include formulating the firm's macroeconomic, interest rate and currency projections. He is co-author of BMO Nesbitt Burns' weekly Focus publication, as well as contributing to the department's various publications. Douglas gives economic presentations to institutional clients and private investors. In addition, he is a regular commentator on economic and financial trends to the media.
Douglas earned a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario in 1984 and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He has been on the Board of Directors of the Toronto Association of Business Economists since 1996.
Jennifer Lee, Vice President
Senior Economist at BMO Capital Markets
Jennifer is one of the primary authors of the firm's daily economic commentary, providing analysis for major economic and political events. Jennifer contributes to, and co-ordinates, the group's publications, as well as maintains the group's macroeconomic forecast models and indices.
Jennifer graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.
Sal Guatieri, Vice President
Senior Economist at BMO Capital Markets
Sal Guatieri has over fifteen years experience as a macro economist and financial markets forecaster. Since joining BMO Financial Group in 1994, his main responsibilities have included analyzing and forecasting the Canadian and U.S. economies, interest rates and exchange rates. He is a regular commentator on the economy and markets. Sal provides high-frequency economic analyses to the capital markets traders and clients. Sal earned a Masters degree in Economics from Queen's University in 1990. He was the Secretary for the Toronto Association for Business Economics from 2000 to 2010.
