Jack Sutton, FCSI

Senior Investment Advisor | Senior Wealth Advisor

Over the course of Jacks career one thing has always held true, own good quality businesses! As a Senior Investment Advisor and Senior Wealth Advisor Jacks goal is to ensure our clients know what they own, why they own it and to help them grow their portfolio’s. By delivering excellent customer service and expert advice tailored to our clients needs, Jack has had the opportunity to work with many prominent families. Many of these relationships now encompass even the 2nd and 3rd generation of the family. Working together to meet their goals.

Jack began his career in the investment industry in 1973, becoming a licensed investment advisor in Vancouver, BC in 1974. Shortly after moving to Winnipeg, he was offered the position of Branch Manager in Regina, Saskatchewan. After spending some time there, he chose to return to Winnipeg in 1986 and joining BMO Nesbitt Burns in 1993.

When Jack is not spending his time researching investment opportunities or industry news (which is hardly ever), you will find him cracking jokes around the office.  Jack resides in Winnipeg and is a proud father of three boys.  When he has time to get away, he spends time at his “home away from home” in Vancouver, BC or in Hawaii.
 

Chris Thiessen, CIM, FCSI

As a discretionary portfolio manager Chris spends his time researching and constructing portfolios for both retail and institutional clients.  His “client-first” approach in everything he does is what keeps his relationships strong and focused.  His continued success in the wealth advisory business has proven itself over the years as Chris now holds the title of Senior Portfolio Manager and Senior Wealth Advisor, BMO Nesbitt Burns.

Chris joined BMO Nesbitt Burns in 2009 with eight years of experience as Vice President of Sales with Clarington Funds.  He also spent time working for TD Asset Management as a Vice President.  Chris graduated in 1999 with a Business Administration Diploma (major in marketing) and now holds both the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation and Discretionary Portfolio Manager designation. In 2021 Chris also became a fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI®), achieving CSI’s highest credential available.

When Chris is not busy researching and managing money, he enjoys spending time with his wife Christine and their young son, Hunter and daughter Isla.  He also enjoys playing golf at Niakwa and Elmhurst Country Clubs, playing guitar with other musicians and loves to fish at his cabin in Minaki, Ontario

Dan Stiver, FCSI, CIM, FMA

Senior Portfolio Manager | Senior Wealth Advisor | Senior Investment Advisor

Throughout his career in the investment industry, Dan has worked with entrepreneurial clients who require a detailed, professional approach to wealth management.  Dan is responsible for managing client portfolios, and addressing their unique financial needs in order to create and maintain a personalized family wealth plan.

Dan completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1993 at the University of Michigan and began his career in the financial services industry as an Associate Investment Advisor with TD Wealth in 1995.  He joined BMO Nesbitt Burns as an Investment Advisor in October of 2011 and successfully grew his practice until joining The Sutton-Thiessen-Stiver Wealth Group  in 2015.  Dan obtained his designation as a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) in 2013, allowing for discretionary portfolio management of accounts for retail and institutional clients. He achieved his Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI®) in 2018.

He and his wife, Lisa, like to spend time outside with their Chocolate Lab named Lucy. He is also a proud Uncle who enjoys taking in the sports and school activities of nephew Josh, niece Rhyan, and nephew Zac.

Michael Amyot, CFP

Senior Wealth Associate | Certified Financial Planner

As a Certified Financial Planning (CFP®), Michael works with our clients developing personalized wealth plans and strategies to help our clients clarify and meet their goals. Through an in-depth discovery , analysis and implementation process Michael tries to uncover what is most important to our clients and how we can help them achieve those goals.

Michael began his career in the financial services industry as a Customer Service Representative with BMO Bank of Montreal after completing his B.A with the University of Winnipeg in 2009.  In 2011 he transitioned into a new roll with BMO Nesbitt Burns and became an Investment Representative in 2012. In 2013 Michael joined The Sutton-Thiessen-Stiver Wealth Group  and became an Associate Investment Advisor in 2014.  In 2018, he obtained his CFP ® designation through FP Canada.

When not helping our clients reach their goals, you can find Michael relaxing with his wife Kristen, daughter Bradlee whom they welcomed in 2020 and their two dogs Sophie and Ollie. As soon as the weather starts to warm up they all try to spend as much time as possible enjoying the family cottage near Kenora Ontario or firing up the backyard grill to host a BBQ for family and Friends.
 

Kim Blair

Administrative Assistant

Kim is responsible for all administrative duties including account opening, transaction processing and all other customer service related inquiries to ensure our client’s needs are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.

Kim began her career in the financial services industry in 1991 at RBC Dominion Securities.  She worked briefly at CIBC Wood Gundy before moving over to BMO Nesbitt Burns in 2008.

Outside of work, Kim enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage daughters.  In the summer, she enjoys spending time outside,  taking long walks with their beagle named Oreo, cycling, and going to the beaches around Lake Winnipeg.

Paola Leon Olivella

Administrative Assistant

Paola is in charge of managing our digital presence, providing solutions to customer service inquiries, and supporting the team with administrative duties that help us deliver the best value to our clients.

Currently enrolled in the Canadian Securities Course through the Canadian Securities Institute, Paola began her career in the financial services industry in 2020 as a Customer Service Representative with The Bank Of Montreal at the Winnipeg Main Branch. She was quickly promoted to Personal Banking Associate, where she achieved the highest sales performance across the Winnipeg market. In November 2022, she joined BMO Nesbitt Burns as a member of The Sutton Thiessen Stiver Wealth Group. Her experience on the banking side serves her well as she transitions to the investment industry.

Paola, her husband Andres, and their son Luca love to travel and spend time outdoors going to the beaches around Manitoba Lakes, hosting BBQs in their backyard, or enjoying picnics at the Winnipeg Parks.
