Decoda Literacy Solutions

Originally from British Columbia, Megan began supporting literacy in BC in 1999 as a volunteer tutor for an adult basic education program in Castlegar, BC. Before relocating to Alberta, Megan could be found giving out newspapers for the Raise-A-Reader campaign, volunteering at events, and supporting the many campaigns to raise funds for literacy. She still sponsors the annual charity scrabble tournament, and is the financial literacy sponsor at the annual Trivia Challenge. As close to 40% of Canadians are functionally illiterate, helping families and individuals increase literacy rates is tremendously important.

Junior Achievement of Southern Alberta

Megan is a regular volunteer at the JA World of Choices, a full day event where high school students and mentors are brought together to discuss different professions. The sessions are an interactive way for students to ask questions and have open dialog with people from each vocation. This event helps kids obtain information about next steps after high school, what type of training they may need, gain a better understanding of each profession, and understand the best ways to pursue them.
