Insights, Perspective, and Connection with Brian Belski

On Tuesday evening, several members of the MSB Wealth team had the opportunity to hear Brian Belski—Chief Investment Strategist at BMO Capital Markets—speak live in Calgary at the beautiful new BMO Centre at Stampede Park. It was an energizing evening filled with market insights, thoughtful perspectives, and meaningful conversations. We were grateful to share the experience with some of our clients and fellow professionals from across BMO.

Belski’s clarity and long-term perspective provided a refreshing counterbalance to today’s often noisy market narratives. While his market outlook was, as always, thoughtful and informative, what stood out most were the guiding principles woven into his message. A few themes that really resonated with our team included:

• The idea that stocks remain a key path to earnings—and that earnings drive the economy.
• A reminder not to let fear or emotion drive investment decisions.

The discussion also touched on how AI is poised to enhance productivity (not replace people), the long-term outlook for oil prices, and how key policy shifts—such as interprovincial trade reform—could shape Canada’s economic future.

More than anything, the evening was a wonderful opportunity to connect with clients in a relaxed, social setting.
