Get to know the MMB Wealth Team - Pam Kai

Andrew McManus - Apr 08, 2022

With a couple more team members to introduce in our "Meet the MMB Wealth Team" series, let's meet Pam Kai!

How long have you worked with MMB Wealth?

I’m the newest member of the team as I joined in 2019 after being a stay at home with my two kids. The years have flown by quickly!

Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in Saskatchewan! Go Riders! I moved “out west” to go to college and haven’t returned to the prairies since. I feel like a lot of people in Calgary hail from Saskatchewan so it has felt like home. I’ll always be a prairie girl at heart though!

How would you spend an entire day in Calgary?
I always love a day at Calaway park with the kids going on rides and seeing the shows – I feel like a kid again and we have lots of fun together with family and friends. I also love hitting up Village Ice Cream for a tasty treat and Madison1212 for some delicious drinks and nachos! I love checking out new places around the city.

Where is your favourite place to travel?
I love to travel! My favourite place that I have traveled to has been to Thailand – this experience really opened my eyes to different cultures and food. I loved the people, the beaches and the hot weather. Any where really hot, I’m happy!

What is your favourite sport?
My favourite sport to watch is curling! Growing up in Saskatchewan and Sandra Schmirler being an icon in the sport played a big part in my love for the game. It’s been incredible to watch how it has adapted over the years. To play though, I enjoy trail running/ultra races and disc golf!

What is one thing we should know about you?
Throughout high school, a lot of my time was spent volunteering backstage for theatre productions in Prince Albert, SK. I love the arts and love being behind the scenes (don’t put me on the stage!). There is something so magical about bringing shows to life for people to enjoy!

How do you spend your free time?
I spend quite a bit of my time volunteering in various roles at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary. I am a trained Peer Mentor volunteer and help mentor/support families in the NICU or who are facing specific medical diagnoses with their child. I also sit on the family advisory council and various committees/quality improvement projects for the ACH. I am passionate about using the journey with my son to make changes for the better for other families.

Words to live by
Marvel at your life: at the grief that softened you, at the heartache that wisened you, at the suffering that strengthened you
