Karen O'Coin, PFP

Senior Investment Advisor

Having held senior positions for over 40 years with direct exposure to the investment industry, Karen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her clients. She started her career in 1981 on the institutional side of the business and in 1990 moved her focus to individual client portfolios. More recently, Karen has worked with BMO Nesbitt Burns for over 24 years as an Investment Advisor and Personal Financial Planner, and helps her client navigate the ever-changing landscape of the stock market in order to help them achieve their financial goals.

Formerly, she was President of the Orillia District Chamber of Commerce, where she introduced a small business mentoring training program, equipping new business owners with additional tools to meet the modern day challenges of building successful, sustainable businesses. Karen was recognized by the community as the 2009 Businesswoman of the Year.
 

 

Karen lives with her husband in Orillia, where they enjoy spending time with their many grandchildren, travelling and boating.

Scott Walker, CIM, PFP, FCSI

Investment Advisor

Scott Joined the Karen O’Coin Investment Advisory Group in 2018. As a Personal Financial Planner (PFP) and Chartered Investment Manager (CIM), Scott creates personalized financial plans and investment portfolios, that are tax-smart and cost effective, in order to help clients achieve their financial goals more efficiently.
 
Scott began his career working in Toronto at one of the world’s largest asset management firms, where he developed an in depth knowledge on the various types of strategies and investment products available in today’s marketplace.  From there he continued to fine-tune his portfolio analysis and financial planning skills as an Investment and Retirement Planner at one of the other major banks.
 
Originally from the Barrie and Orillia area, Scott completed his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Laurentian University.  He has also completed the Personal Financial Planning (PFP) and Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designations through the Canadian Securities Institute, and is committed to continuous learning and development in order to stay on top of the market trends. 
 
Scott, along with his wife Katie and their two children Oliver and Violet, are thrilled to back working, and living, in the community in which they grew up.

Krista Hann

Senior Client Service Associate

With over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Krista is dedicated to understanding her clients’ financial needs and providing an elevated client experience. Having joined BMO Nesbitt Burns in 2006, she has accumulated invaluable operational and industrial knowledge. As a licensed Registered Representative, she possesses a comprehensive understanding of financial markets and investment strategies that she successfully implements for our clients in a very timely fashion.

 

When away from office, Krista is a happy mom who loves traveling around with her family and beautiful dog Vinny.
