1. Our relationship

Our relationship starts with the development of a financial plan customized specifically to achieve your long-term financial goals. As part of this plan, we cover your investment, retirement, insurance, tax and estate planning issues. We then identify solutions, and the appropriate benchmarks against which to measure results.

2. Communicating with your other advisors

Our goal is to serve as your primary financial advisor. As part of this role, we are able to communicate with any existing professional advisors such as tax accountants and estate lawyers. If required, we may also tap into our own network of professional advisors to complement the advice you are already receiving, or assist you to establish new high value advice and service relationships.

3. Our investment philosophy

Our investment philosophy is focussed around meeting your return needs and goals while limiting downside risk and protecting your money, essentially a conservative approach in nature. Operating within your specific risk profile, an investment portfolio is structured to achieve a combination of long-term growth and income without undue risk. As a result, we both sleep soundly at night.

4. Tax planning

Tax planning and minimization is a key component of the financial plan for most clients. As part of the overall plan, tax efficient strategies such as income splitting and family trusts will be evaluated in partnership with your tax professional.

5. Reporting

You will receive regular reports of purchases and sales performance - monthly where there has been a purchase or sale, quarterly otherwise. We are always available to answer any questions on these statements; in addition, we review the format of reporting with all new clients, to minimize confusion or misunderstanding about how to read the results.

6. Reviewing and monitoring your account

We monitor your account on an ongoing basis to take advantage of opportunities created by changing circumstances. In addition, we will meet regularly to review the performance of your portfolio and if appropriate modify your plan.
