Peter Bengtsson loves meeting new people, hearing their personal and career stories, learning their goals and helping them find the best path forward. He focuses on advising young healthcare professionals who have long time horizons and seek long-term solutions for themselves and their families. Through our team’s roundtable approach, when Peter’s clients need specialized expertise outside of his wheelhouse, he brings in collaborators from our team and BMO Private Wealth. With a gift for building client relationships and earning trust, Peter also introduces new clients to our actively growing team, many of which come from satisfied clients and peers.
Prior to joining BMO in 2015, Peter was a Financial Services Manager at CIBC for several years. He has completed Financial Planning I and II towards his Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation. Peter has also obtained his Mutual Funds License with the Investment Funds Institute of Canada and has completed the Canadian Investment Funds Course and the Investment Advisor Training Program with the Canadian Securities Institute.
Peter was proudly named a BMO Conference of Stars Honouree in 2021 for leadership among his peers, making significant business contributions leading to outstanding achievements, and demonstrating BMO’s Winning Culture with a focus on relentlessly improving. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Leadership and Management from Trinity Western University, where he served as the Executive Director of Events at the TWU Student Association and sat on the Executive Council, which dictates the direction and leadership of the TWU Student Association. In the summer of 2011, Peter worked as a group leader for Sister Cities International, coordinating and supervising activities for high school students in Phoenix and Washington D.C., which included excursions to mayoral offices, The U.S. Department of State, and the executive offices of the White House.
Peter’s father is from Sweden, so he grew up travelling often to visit family and got bitten early by the travel bug. He enjoys exploring new restaurants in downtown Vancouver and is a big music fan who regularly attends live concerts. Peter is also a film buff who stayed sane during the lockdown by rewatching old classic movies.
