Socially Responsible Investing

We offer a full range of socially responsible investing (SRI) options for clients.

Socially responsible Investing is an investment philosophy that focuses on companies making positive social and/or environment change.  To this end, most SRI investing uses (ESG) screening to determine a company's record on:

(E)nvironmental sustainability.
(S)ocial sustainability.
Corporate (G)overnance.

BMO Private Wealth / Nesbitt Burns employ a dedicated team of SRI/ESG specialists, whom our group engages with via the 'Global Sustainable Investment Portfolio'.  This model is represented by an equally-weighted portfolio comprised of 20 large/mid-cap stocks, based on fundamental, quantitative and social impact analysis.  Companies involved in the following activities are excluded from the model:

  • Alcohol.

  • Gaming.
