Nellie Chowbay

Nellie is a University  of Toronto alumni who spent 14 years teaching as well as 2 Years teaching the Finance Course at George Brown College. She has been an Investment Advisor at BMO Nesbitt Burns for over 24 years and has earned several designations throughout her career; she is also a licensed  Life Insurance Advisor and a Portfolio Manager.

Through her philanthropic endeavors, she helps various organizations provide educational programs to children locally and abroad. Learning and education has been the basis of her success,  a legacy she has passed on to  her two daughters, both of whom are practicing lawyers in Ontario.

Robert ter Brugge

Robert brings together the knowledge and experience of our in-house tax and estate professionals. He works with advisors and their clients to develop sound wealth management plans. He provides support and direction on complex issues such as retirement planning, tax planning, cash management, estate and gift planning, business succession, transition planning and philanthropy.

Robert has over 25 years of professional experience in the wealth management industry as a Financial Planner at BMO, a lead developer of financial planning software at BMO, and as an advisor with a major wealth management firm.

James Kraft

With over 25 years of experience in the tax and estate planning community, Jim possesses a comprehensive understanding of the financial and personal complexities faced by owners of private businesses and affluent families.

He serves on several boards including the Financial Planning Standards Board (International), the Financial Planning Standards Council (Canada) and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

 

Jim is also the co-author of Comment, a newsletter published by Advocis (the Financial Advisors Association of Canada), a frequent speaker at professional seminars and author of numerous professional papers and articles.

Finch Moyo

Investment Representative

Finch rounds out our team and is an excellent complement to the group.  A native of Zimbabwe, Finch holds a degree in Economics. Outside the office he enjoys various sports and follows football and basketball.

James Wong

James Wong, CPA, CBV, M.Comm.

Vice President, Business Owner Planning

James brings over 20 years of experience working directly with business families in developing their business and wealth transition. He shares his knowledge and experience in this area in a co-authored book, “The Transition Experience – What every Canadian family business owner should know beyond succession planning”.

Central to his approach is exploring with family and family members, the impact and responsibility that comes with “trans-generational” wealth, and ultimately developing goals and governance associated with the stewardship of wealth. 

James started his career practicing tax, business valuation and corporate insolvency in a national accounting firm. He joined BMO in 2000 to develop and lead a then new initiative, business succession planning. His experience in business transition planning underpins his wider work with families in developing their wealth legacy. He meets with multiple generations of each family as part of his work to develop lasting stewardship of wealth. Educating younger generations on financial fluency is part of his legacy planning work.

Elizabeth works with other members of the High Net Worth and Specialized Wealth Planning team to develop personalized estate planning solutions for high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients. Elizabeth is sympathetic to the needs of her clients and mindful of the importance of family dynamics in the estate planning conversation. She is actively involved in the estates bar, and continues to organize and chair programs of interest for estate and trusts lawyers across the province.
