Shaemas originally joined BMO in 2004 just out of high school. He learned all the banking roles, including Branch Manager, Trainer, Small Business Commercial Account Manager and Financial Services Manager, and saw first-hand the issues business owners face. Seeking a more entrepreneurial career, Shaemas joined the BtoB start-up Silver Chef Financial Canada as their first salesperson and helped the company grow from zero to a valuation of $25 million in just five years. He learned how to enter new markets, plan strategically, budget and forecast sales, and scale a business quickly. Before rejoining BMO in 2021, Shaemas had also been responsible for exponential business growth as VP Strategy and Operations at Blonyx Biosciences and Director, Partnerships and Operations at Apollo Insurance.

Shaemas holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Executive Management from Royal Roads University and a Diploma in Business Administration and Management from Kwantlen University. He has completed the University of British Columbia’s Leading High-Performance Teams and Project Management Essentials course and is a former member of the Salvation Army Belkin House Community Council.

In his personal time, Shaemas and his wife live by classic west coast values – they love spending time outdoors, primarily mountain biking, cycling and snowboarding. They always look for opportunities to get their young daughter active outside. In addition, Shaemas enjoys playing soccer and hockey and sharing a cold beer after a game with friends on a weekend night.
