Sarah Kwon, CFP®, CFA®, CDFA®

Investment Advisor & Financial Planner

Friendly, sincere and passionately client-focused, Sarah Kwon helps her clients build, spend, and enjoy their wealth within the context of a smart financial plan. Knowing that feeling comfortable in retirement comes from understanding your path through it, she is committed to educating her clients and encourages them to think about money beyond just investments.

After earning her Bachelor of Science from McGill University (which included an exchange program at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea), Sarah gained valuable experience at top accounting firms in Vancouver, largely focusing on tax strategies. She joined BMO Private Wealth as a Director in Wealth Planning before transitioning to Investment Advisory and Financial Planning—so she could start putting into action the comprehensive plans she was building for clients.

Sarah has earned many of the industry’s most respected credentials. She secured her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 2021, and her Chartered Financial Analyst® designation in 2019. She is also a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® practitioner, holds her CPA designation from Washington State, and is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Canada.

Prior to her corporate career, Sarah was a small-business owner wearing many hats. Her entrepreneurial journey was sparked by an unexpected event that changed her family’s wealth situation when she was only 24. This taught her the value of sensible planning to protect against life’s curveballs, and preserve peace of mind—and this still guides her approach today.

Outside of her work with clients, Sarah volunteers her time to the Association of Women in Finance, and is a part-time Finance Instructor at Douglas College in New Westminster, BC, where she resides with her husband. When she’s not learning to surf in Tofino, hiking, or practicing yoga, you will find her planning her mom’s retirement, dreaming of her own, or thinking up new ways to clarify and evolve the conversations we all have about money.
