Equity markets have generally drifted higher since the publication of last winter’s newsletter, in a continuation of the momentum markets displayed late last year (see Figure 1) with the only notable exception being a brief market pullback in April 1. It should also be said that in the immediate aftermath of the 31st of July (the day on which our newsletter data is captured) the release of softer employment data in the United States tilted the market into another pullback, which we will be monitoring in August.
