Registered Disability Savings Plans

In December of 2010, BMO Financial Group released the results of a study they conducted to examine the use of the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) by Canadians. That study found that only 10 percent of Canadians with a disability, or those with a family member with a disability, were knowledgeable about the RDSP and its benefits, with 44 percent having never even heard of the program. RDSPs are designed to provide financial security for individuals with disabilities and combine the advantages of tax deferred investment growth with the opportunity to receive government subsidies. Clearly this is a much underutilized program. Click here to view a document containing more information on the RDSP program.
