Meet Our Team

Derek is the founder of The King Group.  He has been an Investment Advisor since March 1986, 25 of those years have been at BMO Nesbitt Burns.  Prior to that, he spent four years at Carleton University, graduating with a B.A. in Economics in 1985.

Derek grew up in the west end of Ottawa where he met his wife at Sir Robert Borden High School.  They have 3 grown daughters Courtney, Bailey and Chloe.  In their spare time, Derek and Carole enjoy traveling and cottage life.  Derek is an avid cyclist and occasionally plays golf and hockey.

Nick has been with the King Group since 1998. He is an Investment Advisor who holds a BA in Economics from Carleton University.  Nick manages the client portfolios and Financial Plans on a day to day basis, including options and insurance.  He oversees a large and diverse client base including entrepreneurs, professionals and retirees.
 
Having lived in various countries as a child, Nick loves to travel.  Having toured throughout North America, Europe and the Caribbean, Nick and his girlfriend are always on the lookout for their next dream destination.

Laura Lee is a Senior Client Service Associate and has worked with Derek King since 1991.  Laura Lee manages the daily administrative operations within the team.  She is dedicated to providing outstanding service and support. 

Jackie is a Senior Client Service Associate with the King Group. She works closely with Laura Lee navigating administrative issues within the team and providing clients with exceptional service.  Jackie has been with The King Group for over 25 years.
