Christopher Whike

Wealth Advisor and Portfolio Manager

Christopher is a Portfolio Manager and Wealth Advisor who provides comprehensive advice and services to multi-generation families and young professionals.  He takes pride in being able to simplify and communicate the often complex investment process by educating and guiding his clients with language tailored to each person.

By carefully listening to clients and focusing on what matters most to them, Chris is able to develop holistic, personalized wealth plans, designed to help each client achieve their goals.  This focus on long-term planning and education about the big picture helps clients remain confident in the future, and comfortable in the present, even when times are tough and markets are difficult.

Christopher began his wealth management career in early 1994, when he joined Burns Fry Ltd working with a highly-respected senior Investment Advisor. From the beginning, Chris learned much about many aspects of the wealth management business, including client communication, client service, and investment and portfolio management.  This early experience taught Chris the importance of building long-term relationships with clients, and viewing investments and portfolio management within a big picture context. Chris became licensed as an Investment Advisor in 1998, and later became a licensed Wealth Advisor and Portfolio Manager, holding his Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation.

In the early 2000s Chris spent several years away from the investment business to start up and manage a successful furniture business focused on custom design and manufacturing, specializing in exotic wood species and traditional construction methods. Over the years of building furniture, Chris has designed and built everything from small incidental interest items, to complete furniture suites, to built-in cabinetry and free-standing staircases.  One of Chris’ chair designs was even featured in the Rogers Cup VIP lounge.

Chris grew up in Caledon, Ontario and currently resides in Oakville, Ontario with his wife, two daughters and two Labrador retrievers (who, incidentally, are not particularly skilled at actually retrieving anything!). For many years Chris volunteered a significant amount of his time and energy to coach his daughters in rep hockey with the Oakville Hornets Girls Hockey Club and soccer with the Oakville Soccer Club.  In recent years, Chris enjoys his free time pursuing his many sports passions, including fly fishing, hiking, camping, kayaking, cycling, running, and cross-country skiing, or his many hobbies, such as playing guitar, making fly rods, gardening, carpentry or building anything of interest.  It could even be said that Chris’ greatest passion is learning new skills and exploring new interests.
