Brian Miatello, CFA
Portfolio Manager
Brian Miatello graduated with an honours Bachelor of Mathematics degree from University of Waterloo followed by an MBA degree from Ivey Business School at Western University. Thereafter he entered the investment industry as a broker with a prominent securities dealer. He further enhanced his qualifications with the acknowledged gold standard in investment management by obtaining the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1992.
He joined a major trust company's investment management team in 1997 and he has been a portfolio manager since 2001, most recently with the same major bank's Private Investment Counsel. In 2009 he joined BMO Wealth Management, where he manages equity portfolios for himself and clients. The BMO position represents the culmination of all his education and experience, having learned from the best investors along the way. He remains passionate about the investment business to this day.
Brian’s personal recreational interests include reading, golf, cycling, and skiing with his wife Anne.
Jeremy Newall
Investment Representative
Jeremy is a Bachelor of Commerce graduate of the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. He is currently pursuing his CFA designation having written the first-year exams in June 2022.
His career with BMO started at InvestorLine in 2019, our discount brokerage, where he developed valuable skills listening to people and quickly executing on their wishes. He joined Nesbitt Burns in March 2022. He is licensed with IIROC, our regulator, as an Investment Representative.
Jeremy has quite eclectic interests. He plays a variety of musical instruments and is also a singer. Last year he released an EP called SHEESH that is available on streaming services. Jeremy’s musical talents have progressed to song writing and audio engineering.
An interest in fitness lead to becoming a competitive powerlifter. By chance he became interested in dragon boat racing. He was so successful that he has become one of the top paddlers on Team Canada U24 team. Although COVID interrupted several international competitions, training continues, and Jeremy expects to compete with Team Canada Premier National Team in Hong Kong in 2023.
