Investment Management

We serve our clients through a variety of platforms, primarily the BMO Meridian and BMO Architect Programs.

The BMO Nesbitt Burns Meridian Program

The BMO Nesbitt Burns Meridian Program is a fee-based platform providing Nesbitt Burns clients access to portfolios with a flexible combination of individual securities, ETFs, and mutual funds. In collaboration with our clients, we structure portfolios with the characteristics necessary to achieve strong performance over time. Investment management fees are fully disclosed, and clients have access to Gateway which allows them to view their portfolio online at any time. The goal is to put the client and advisor on the same side of the table, so that they are aligned in achieving the stated objectives.

The BMO Nesbitt Burns Architect Program

The BMO Nesbitt Burns Architect Program was the first full-featured unified managed account in Canada, providing clients access to institutional-calibre investment managers, enhanced diversification and active portfolio oversight. Portfolios are rebalanced quarterly to maintain the stated objective as well as year-end tax harvesting, which minimizes tax reporting.

The Architect Program gives you the flexibility of having a portfolio with a professionally managed (discretionary) sleeve and a customizable client managed sleeve. This blend allows us to build customized portfolios to meet your specific requirements.

Focusing on the big picture and minimizing media noise

My team and I are very efficient in how we use our time and resources to stay abreast of economic and market developments. We also access the excellent research available within the BMO Capital Markets and Portfolio Advisory divisions. We use this information on an ongoing basis to ensure that our client portfolios are appropriately constructed. Knowing this makes our clients more confident with our process, and helps them to tune out the day to day noise of the markets.

We communicate with our clients in a timely manner and clearly summarize our observations and recommendations. Media noise can make investors feel uncertain about market activity in the short term. We remind people that the most successful investors focus on a disciplined, structured, long-term, proven strategy to manage their financial affairs smoothly.
