Chris Murphy co-leads Murphy Morgan Wealth Advisory Group together with his partner of more than 20 years, Tim Morgan. Chris has been serving Canadian Tire dealers, Indigenous Communities and affluent business owners and their families since 2000. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Associate Portfolio Manager designations and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Laurentian University.
Prior to joining BMO Private Wealth early in 2023, Chris managed client portfolios at CIBC Wood Gundy for more than a decade. Chris’ experience also includes leadership positions at a private investment firm and valuable stint within the asset management division of CIBC.
Chris volunteered on the Investment Committee of the St Michael’s Collage at the University of Toronto for seven years, developing investment policies and monitoring the portfolios for the pension plans, foundation and endowments. Chris also served the Toronto community as a Board Member and Chair of the Fort York Food Bank for close to a decade. The greatest reward of the experience was meeting his wife, Sherri, who was also volunteering at that time.
Chris and Sherri now reside in Oakville with their three daughters, Elaine, Maddy and Charlotte. His favourite pastimes are spending time with his young family, cheering for the Toronto Raptors and getting in a game of golf with friends.
Tim Morgan
Senior Investment Advisor
Tim Morgan co-leads Murphy Morgan Wealth Advisory Group together with his partner of more than 20 years, Chris Murphy. Tim has been serving Canadian Tire dealers, Indigenous Trusts and affluent business owners and their families since 2000. He holds the Associate Portfolio Manager designation and an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Nipissing University. Tim is registered to advise clients across Canada.
Prior to joining BMO Private Wealth early in 2023, Tim worked with CIBC Wood Gundy for more than a decade and held leadership positions at private asset management firms. Prior to entering the investment industry in 2000, he had a decade-long career with Ontario Northland Railway, the highlight of which was being Engineer on the famous Polar Bear Express.
Tim grew up in North Bay and maintains his roots there by spending as much time as possible at his vacation property on Trout Lake. He maintains very close ties to his northern community year-round, fishing, snowmobiling and enjoying other activities in the great outdoors. In summers you will find him at the North Bay Golf and Country Club or boating on the area’s countless waterways. Tim also values time spent with his partner, Metzie, and his two adult daughters – Rachael, who is completing a PhD at McGill University, and Gillian, who is completing a Master’s at Waterloo University.
Erick Gonzalez
Client Service Associate
Erick brings exceptional attention to detail in overseeing the operational aspects of our book of business, ensuring seamless client service. He diligently monitors accounts, reviews monthly reports and distributions, manages documentation and account openings, schedules client meetings, executes trades with triple-checked precision, and keeps our advisors informed of any necessary changes or needs.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Erick excels in client communication, simplifying complex concepts into relatable and understandable terms. He is skilled at streamlining our processes and thrives on the dynamic nature of his role, continually finding new opportunities to learn about investing.
Erick joined BMO Private Wealth with our team in early 2023, earning the nickname “Joker in Chief” for his lively personality. His previous experience includes over two years at CIBC Wood Gundy, roles at Scotia Wealth Management, International Investment Advisory, Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets, Hollis Wealth, and Macquarie Private Wealth.
Erick holds an Advanced Diploma in Finance with a specialization in Banking and Wealth Management from Sheridan College. He has also completed the Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices Handbook, Investment Funds in Canada, and Investment Representative Training courses with the Canadian Securities Institute. His volunteer work includes fundraising for the United Way through the CN Tower Climb and participated in a company-wide soccer tournament, where he won two gold medals.
A former competitive soccer player with Brampton East Soccer Club, Erick continues to play for fun. In his personal time, he enjoys traveling, discovering new adventures, and staying active with his young family, especially now as a new father, he cherishes every moment spent with his newborn son Elijah. Embracing fatherhood has brought a new sense of joy and fulfillment to his life, making each family outing even more special.
Jasmine Coakley, BComm (Hons)
Client Services Associate
Jasmine works closely with Erick to oversee our team’s back office and help us deliver a very high measure of client service. Proactive, highly organized and attention to detail, she keeps us all on track. Jasmine executes trades with accuracy and communicates well with our clients. She is always generating new ideas and ways to improve our operational tasks from managing documentation and reviewing monthly reports. Jasmine enjoys interacting with our diverse roster of clients and meeting people from so many different walks and stages of life.
Previously, Jasmine supported our team at CIBC Wood Gundy as our Client Associate and Administrative Associate. She has also worked at Mackenzie Investments as a District Sales Associate and Client Relations Representative. Prior to entering the financial industry, Jasmine was in Program Services at the Canada Revenue Agency Director’s Office and a Customer Service Representative at Seneca College.
Jasmine holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce in International Business Management from Seneca College, where she was a member of the Seneca West Indian and African Association and served as a Seneca SMILE mentor. She has completed the Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices Handbook and Investment Representative Training courses with the Canadian Securities Institute. She is actively pursuing further investment management and financial planning designations.
Originally from The Bahamas, she has previously volunteered with the Bahamas Humane Society and fundraised for the global Susan G. Komen organization to end breast cancer and provide advocacy programs as her best friend is a breast cancer survivor. She enjoys an active lifestyle, exploring great cuisine at home and abroad, and traveling.
Jessy Fuentes, BA (Hons)
Client Service Associate
Jessy Fuentes joined the Murphy Morgan Wealth Management Group in 2023 after gathering 12 years of financial services experience through various roles in BMO.
After earning an Honours Bachelor of Arts at York University, Jessy started his career at BMO Bank of Montreal at First Canadian Place branch. While helping to welcome Murphy Morgan Wealth Management during the onboarding process, he caught the attention of Tim and Chris, who asked him to join their team. He had always aspired to join a successful advisory group, so he jumped at this exciting opportunity to learn.
Jessy believes in working within a structured and a disciplined environment, he can juggle multiple aspects of our work and pivot quickly from one to another without missing a beat. A highly motivated team player who excels in many areas, Jessy enjoys the spontaneity of handling whatever the day may bring. His mantra is “listen carefully and pay close attention” and it serves him well with clients and coworkers alike.
Jessy is licensed as an Investment Representative and has completed the Canadian Securities and Conduct and Practices Handbook Courses with the Canadian Securities Institute. He is currently working to complete the Wealth Management Essentials Course and is fluent in Spanish. At home, Jessy and his wife Tracy have two daughters, Sadie and Jordyn, who bring them many joys while keeping them very busy.
