Matt Kenny, BA (Econ)

Senior Portfolio Manager, Senior Investment Advisor

My career in the investment business has spanned over 40 years. In 1991 I moved to BMO Nesbitt Burns to take advantage of their highly ranked research department. Throughout my career I have attempted to employ the latest techniques to cut through the noise and assist clients in reaching their financial goals. I have completed the Professional Financial Planning Course offered by the Canadian Securities Institute, hold the Chartered Investment Manager designation and a Level II Insurance License. I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Economics) from Queen's University.  Over the years, as the business has grown, I have sought out other like-minded professionals to expand our team and ensure clients get informed, consistent advice.

Ottawa has been my home for my entire life. Away from work I enjoy volunteering my time to some committees, spending time with my wife and two adult children, downhill skiing, golf, and fishing.

Portfolio Manager, Investment Advisor

My career began in 2005 where I worked as a Registered Representative at the trade desk for MD Management.  I joined BMO Nesbitt Burns as an Investment Advisor in February 2008.  At that time I was fortunate to have Matt Kenny as my mentor, and in 2009 we formed a partnership.  I have completed the Certified Financial Planning Education Program, the Level II Insurance License program and have achieved the designation of Chartered Investment Manager CIM.

I have been on the Investment Committee at the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health for many years and am very active in the fundraising community.  When I am not working, I am spending time with my two boys (Rocco & Ozzie) and my beautiful wife Renee.  I enjoy golfing, skiing and being outdoors.
