Mark Berry, CFP, FCSI

Senior Wealth Advisor

Mark joined Nesbitt Thomson now BMO Nesbitt Burns in 1994 and brings more than three decades of experience helping clients navigate the complexities of wealth management with clarity and confidence. As a Senior Wealth Advisor, Mark advises families, professionals, and business owners on all aspects of their financial lives, with a strong focus on long‑term planning, prudent investment strategy, tax planning, philanthropy, and the efficient transfer of intergenerational wealth.

Mark is a Certified Financial Planner® practitioner, holds the FCSI® (Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute) designation, and is an Accredited Senior Wealth Advisor with BMO Nesbitt Burns. He is also a Life Insurance Advisor with BMO Financial Services Inc., allowing him to deliver fully integrated wealth, estate, and risk‑management solutions tailored to each client’s unique circumstances.

A graduate of Western University, Mark lives in the Oakridge area of London, Ontario, with his wife, Kirsten.

Deeply committed to his community, Mark believes strongly in giving back. He has been actively involved in youth sports for many years and has supported numerous charitable organizations in the London area. He currently serves as a Board Member of the London Community Foundation, contributing his financial expertise to help strengthen and support the local community.

Stephen Smyrnios, CIM

Senior Investment Advisor

Stephen joined the investment industry after graduating from Western University in 2011. Before joining BMO Nesbitt Burns in 2014, he developed a strong foundation in investment management and client service while working with a leading investment management firm in both Toronto and Montreal.

Stephen holds the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation and is deeply committed to delivering an exceptional client experience. He plays a key role in refining the team’s processes and helps coordinates all facets of the wealth advisory process, helping ensure clients remain focused, informed, and confident as they work toward their long‑term financial goals.

Outside the office, Stephen lives with his wife, Apollonia, and their two daughters. He is an avid tennis player and is developing a growing interest in trap and skeet shooting. In his spare time, he also enjoys golf, hockey, and playing the drums.

Bill Smyrnios, Retired , FMA, FCSI

Retired Senior Investment Advisor, Senior Wealth Advisor

Bill joined Burns Fry, another BMO Nesbitt Burns predecessor firm, in 1995. Bill and his wife, Julie, have 2 children - Nicole and Stephen.

He is a Life Insurance Advisor with BMO Estate Insurance Advisory Services Inc. and has completed the Professional Financial Planning Course. He has completed the Wealth Management Techniques course offered through the Canadian Securities Institute, which has led to the Financial Management Advisor (FMA) designation. 

Bill is a enjoys hockey, tennis and golf.  He is founding member of Accrued Interest - a classic rock band that has performed at various local venues to raise funds and awareness for local charities.

Michelle Babcock

Senior Investment Associate

Michelle began her career in the investment industry in 2000 and brings 23 years of experience with a member firm before joining BMO Nesbitt Burns in June 2023. She believes effective wealth management starts with understanding the full picture—listening carefully, solving problems, and helping clients align financial decisions with both today’s priorities and long-term goals.

Michelle has completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH), and Wealth Management Essentials (WME). She is a Registered Representative and remains committed to ongoing professional development.

Outside of work, Michelle and her husband, Jim, enjoy entertaining family and friends, and she loves spending time in her garden with her dog, Sunny.

Cynthia Tian

Client Service Associate

Cynthia joined Bank of Montreal in 2022.  She is dedicated to building strong client relationships and delivering an exceptional service experience. She transitioned to BMO Nesbitt Burns in 2025. Working closely with clients to support their financial needs, she ensures service is delivered with consistency and care. Known for her client-first approach, Cynthia takes pride in creating a positive and seamless client experience built on trust and reliability.

She has completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH) and is fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends.

Reghan Hauerbach

Client Service Assistant

Reghan Hauerbach joined BMO Nesbitt Burns as a Client Service Assistant, where she supports advisors and clients with a focus on organization, communication, and day-to-day service needs. She is a graduate of the University of Guelph and is currently working toward her CIRE designation.

Outside of the office, Reghan enjoys staying active and making the most of the outdoors. She is an avid skier and snowboarder, and also enjoys golf and soccer. Reghan is focused on continuing to grow her knowledge within the wealth management industry while providing a positive and reliable experience for clients.
