“Can she pitch?”
That was the fateful reply of the coach of BMO’s softball team, more than 40 years ago. Just out of high school, Christine was fascinated by money and wanted to work at a bank. Her father had approached the coach, asking if there might be a job for her at the local branch in Oshawa.
As fortune would have it, Christine hailed from a family of baseball players. She had played competitively since the age of six.
She most certainly could pitch.
She was brought in for an interview, was hired as a teller for a mat leave, and let go when it ended – and then, realizing how badly they needed her, they called her back.
Christine promised to be the best she could possibly be. She worked her way up through every job and was a financial planner for 21 years. She began work with Keith in 2019, and on the Mondesire Wealth team, Christine does, well, everything. Onboarding new clients, client reviews, and financial, investment, estate and tax planning.
Her favourite part of the team’s brand foundation? We make people feel important – because they are. As Christine says, “It has always been my philosophy that the reason I have a job is because of our clients. We recognize that each one of them is unique. That their money experiences differ. Our role is to help guide and educate them, so they can make educated decisions as opposed to emotional ones.”
Chris, as most people call her, is a mother of two and grandmother of seven. Her competitive fire has been passed down through the generations, exemplified by a daughter representing Canada in the world baton twirling championships and a granddaughter on an elite twirl team.
And what of Chris’s own baseball career? She finally hung up her cleats at age 33 – to coach, with her husband, her son’s competitive team. She still goes out to watch him play.
