Hugh’s career in the financial services sector began in management with a major Canadian chartered bank, and then he joined BMO Nesbitt Burns, where he has been employed for the past 24 years as an Investment Advisor. To achieve long term success, Hugh believes one must be committed to self-improvement and education. Hugh furthered his education in 2009 when he completed his Master of Business Administration degree at the Ivey School of Business at Western University. He holds the highest level of professional designations from the Canadian Securities Institute, these include the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM), the Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI); and the Certified International Wealth Manager (CIWM) designation. As a Portfolio Manager and Senior Wealth Advisor, Hugh draws on his experience and creates customized discretionary portfolios for discerning investors.
Giving back to his community is important to Hugh, and he does so through volunteering his time and through his own charitable giving. Much of his volunteer work centres on his love of Ontario’s landscape. He is a past Director of the Ontario Trails Council, and past Director and President of the Friends of Killarney Park. Hugh’s experience at Ivey was also very rewarding and he served as a board member of the Ivey Alumni Association Board, and he has stayed involved as member of the Ivey Alumni Association (IAA) and the Ivey Society.
Hugh is an outdoor enthusiast, and makes many treks to the LaCloche region on the north shore of Lake Huron to participate in kayaking, canoeing, hiking, backcountry camping, cross country skiing and snow shoeing. He is often accompanied by his springer spaniel, Dakota.
