Morrison Fisher Wealth Management

Brian Morrison

Senior Wealth Advisor

To say I love my job would be an understatement.  After nearly 35 years in financial services and now working with a third generation of client families, I still wake up every morning looking forward to helping my clients tackle life’s financial challenges.

I was born and raised in Ottawa, spending summers at the family cottage on the Big Rideau Lake.

After attending Ashbury College, Lisgar Collegiate and Queens University, I married and had two sons, now grown and also living and working in Ottawa (and yes, they’re clients).  I’m an avid mountain biker, tennis player and skier (snow and water).  I start every day practicing guitar-still waiting for my big break!!

My hope is that I can in some small way help my clients live their best life.

James Fisher

Investment Advisor

What I do for a living is no surprise to anyone who knows me.  I grew up being tight with a dollar and started investing in real estate in my twenties.  If there were any doubts about my career path, they were gone after I interviewed Brian for a school assignment.  Best decision I’ve ever made.

I started working at the trade desk of a discount brokerage after graduating from the Finance program at Algonquin College.  It was 2009 and we were dealing with the aftermath of the financial crisis.  Bad timing?   In retrospect, it was my “aha!” moment.  I not only gained valuable experience in dealing with investor anxiety, I came to truly appreciate the importance of sound financial advice and planning.  I knew this was the direction I wanted to take, but who would entrust their financial futures to a kid fresh out of school and still wet behind the ears?

I needed more experience.  I took on the role of Senior Financial advisor at a bank branch.  Along the way, I completed both the Chartered Financial Planning and Certified Investment Management courses.  I enjoyed a steady and successful career progression, eventually becoming a Financial Planner to BMO bank clients. After several years, I was ready to take the last step and joined Brian’s team.

I’m as passionate about the business as I am about my other favourite activities - skiing, mountain biking and clothes shopping.  When I need real down time, I head to my family’s cottage property near Westport.

Courtney Durant

Administrative Assistant

Prior to joining the Morrison Fisher Wealth Advisory team, I spent eight years in retail banking, working my way through various roles where I developed my skills in lending, investment planning and most importantly listening to our clients and tailoring my advice to their needs and goals.

I have always strived to provide a high level of professionalism and customer service to our clients, while also building lasting relationships. It is truly important to me that each client feels supported in all areas of their life – both personally and financially. When you want access to real human support and expertise, I’m your first call.

I was born and raised in a small town south of Ottawa. Growing up and working on the family dairy farm certainly instilled in me an appreciation for hard work and a love for animals, however finance was not often a topic of discussion. It wasn’t until I joined the bank that I realized just how passionate I was about financial literacy. I hope to continue both my education and career development, while also helping others navigate through their unique financial situations.

Outside of work I enjoy traveling, trying new cuisine, drawing and playing baseball.
