Alan took his undergraduate degree in Macromolecular Science & Engineering at Zhejiang University, a top university in mainland China. He came to Canada in 2006 and completed a Master of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering specialized in controlled drug release device at École Polytechnic de Montreal. After spending several years in the manufacturing sector, he then took the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the Rotman School of Management from University of Toronto. He started his investment career as a senior analyst at a major Canadian asset management firm for 4 years and then moved to private wealth for another 8 years as an associate investment advisor at a top wealth management firm. He joined BMO Nesbitt Burns as an investment advisor in Mar 2026. Fluent in Mandarin and English, Alan holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA®) designations.

 

Alan actively involves in his community with helps on career coaching and networking. He loves adventures, from backcountry hiking in Utah to driving over 1000 km in one day to chase iceberg in Newfoundland. He enjoys road trips in Alaska with wildlife close encounters, and in Morocco to spend the night camping in the Sahara Desert under the Milky Way. Enthusiastic in landscape photography, he captures and showcases some of the amazing moments on his personal photography website. Alan lives in Thornhill with his wife Janine, and their daughter and son.

Jonathan Morse, LL.B, LL.M, TEP

Director, Estate Planning

Jonathan works with high-net-worth clients to devise estate solutions that are right for them. He identifies concerns and helps clients navigate legal and non-legal issues to ideally avoid future estate disputes. Jonathan’s clients benefit from his insights and ability to put them at ease during an otherwise challenging conversation. He analyzes facts with a good grasp of the details and overall risk factors. Jonathan helps clients to achieve their goals with practical estate and tax plan strategies. He enjoys working with individual clients as well as speaking with larger groups about the overall themes in estate planning. He is an effective and engaging communicator.

As a Director of Wealth Planning, Jonathan focuses on Estate & Trust matters. He joined the BMO in August 2015 after five years in private practice as a lawyer and another five years with a national trust company. While in private practice, Jonathan worked as an associate at an estate litigation firm. Before law school, he wrote speeches for a federal cabinet minister.

Tim joined BMO Nesbitt Burns in 2007 after twelve years in various Wealth and Risk Management positions in the financial services industry. An active Sports enthusiast and philanthropist, Tim is a firm believer in giving back to the community. In particular, he is a dynamic supporter of Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and is on the Selection Committee for the Community Achievement Award in Toronto.
