|Robert accepted the invitation to join BMO Nesbitt Burns in June 2013 and leads our group of financial professionals. We offer the full spectrum of wealth management services creating customized client solutions with all the resources of BMO Nesbitt Burns, a core part of BMO Financial Group, and its unwavering belief in the power of the client-advisor relationship.
Robert joined the investment industry in 1993 and his credentials include Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI), Certified International Wealth Manager (CIWM), Financial Management Advisor (FMA), Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) from the Financial Planners Standards Council. Robert is able to help clients build tax-efficient strategies to build and preserve their family’s wealth.
To improve his clients wealth experience, Robert developed The Hesp Wealth Leadership Program™, The Family Lynchpin Program™and The Rate of Return Report Card™ for extensive use in his practice with its unique focus "We look after families…100% Global Family Wealth for Accredited Investors™.” He actively enhances his perspective and understanding of global family wealth and fiduciary responsibility by dialoging regularly with colleagues in Canada, the U.S.A., China, Switzerland and The Bahamas.
Robert is also able to provide investment advice to US residents, trusts and corporations, in particular those who require a Canadian investment focus.
Earlier in his financial career, Robert served his clients as an Investment Advisor with Richardson Greenshields of Canada and RBC Dominion Securities. He served Canada as an officer with The Royal Canadian Regiment and earned his B.A. in Political Science from Wheaton College, Illinois.
As an investment and wealth educator, Robert has presented at Shanghai University of Economic and Finance, Central University of Economic and Finance (Beijing), Brock University and other Canadian educational institutions advocating the financial services industry. Since 2009, CSI Global Education Inc. has employed him as a short-term occasional contractor in various roles including Subject Matter Expert (SME), Senior Academic Specialist (SAS) and Academic Panel Expert for its China Programs regarding Wealth Management operations in Canada and China. Earlier in his career, the Investment Learning Centre of Canada, part of the CSI, hand-picked him to be one of the first approved instructors for the Intelligent Investor Seminar Series.
Actively participating in his community, Robert has supported and volunteered for The Red Cross, The Chamber of Commerce, The Rotary Club, his church, federal and provincial political parties, and other organizations.
For balance, fitness and pleasure, Robert enjoys skiing, travel, sailing, half marathons, the CFL, NHL and HSBC Sevens with family and friends. He resides with his wife and four children in St. Catharines.
