When did you join BMO Nesbitt Burns?
Why did you decide to join BMO Nesbitt Burns?I wanted to work at BMO Nesbitt Burns because it was a bank-owned investment firm.  I saw a great benefit for my clients, to be able to offer a broad range of products and services to meet all their investment needs through BMO Financial Group.
 
What makes Midtown a unique place to work? 

There is a strong sense of team  emphasized by the leadership at the Midtown branch. Successful Advisors are very willing to share best practices with others. I truly feel it makes Midtown a  unique place to work.

What type of business do you run?
Mostly fee based

What is your team structure like and why does it work for you?
I am well supported by a great group of people who compliment my “big picture” view point when it comes to working with my clients.  Their detail-oriented approach allows us to provide an exceptional client experience. My Sales Assistant Yvonne Tai has worked with me for the past twenty years. My Associate Louise Chow assists me with client account management, and Steve Prokopchuk assists in preparing Financial Plans.

When did you join BMO Nesbitt Burns?
Barb began her career at the predecessor firm Burns Fry 31 years ago. Terry is celebrating 18 years at the firm.

What makes Midtown a unique place to work?  
The Midtown location is perfect for us and our clients.  It is easy for us to be on the road to visit clients at their home or place of work and also very convenient for people to come to the office.  We can be downtown in minutes on the TTC. At Midtown, there is excellent leadership, people are friendly and we have a supportive environment.
 
Why did you join the Midtown Branch at BMO Nesbitt Burns? 

Barb had worked with Steven Brophy previously and enjoyed  his leadership style.  We had been at the BMO Nesbitt Burns offices at First Canadian Place and we jumped at the chance to work with him again when the opportunity came up to move to the Midtown branch.

What was the transition like for your clients?  
The transition to Midtown was very smooth. The account transfer was seamless and most of our clients prefer the convenient location. 

What type of business do you run?
Our business is a mix of traditional transaction based portfolios and Managed Portfolio Accounts.  We spend a lot of time and effort to understand our clients’ needs and offer in-depth financial planning.
 
What is your team structure like and why does it work for you? 

Barbara and Terry are partners in the team.  Barb handles all Managed Portfolio Accounts.  Having two team members to cover all clients allows more flexibility for visits to clients out of the office.  We are supported by our very capable assistant Jeffrey Ware.

What type of business do you run?
My business is a mix of Meridian and Architect accounts. 

What was the support like from the branch during your transition? 
I like the team and people that work at Midtown and also the central location. Everyone is helpful and friendly and this helped me learn the systems fairly quickly, which made my job of transitioning a lot easier.

What was the transition like for your clients? 
My clients had a pleasant and seamless transition and are happy with the new options and choices they are able to benefit from.
