Assistant Branch Manager, Investment Advisor
His path to becoming an Investment Advisor was not the most typical. Mike grew up on a farm in Eastern Ontario, as much as the farm life was not his calling, there is no doubt that farm work provided valuable tools later in life. Mike’s academic career led him to London, where he graduated with a BA in Kinesiology. A degree in hand, a work ethic learned on the farm, people skills acquired while working in retail sales (tuxedo rentals to be specific!!) , Mike accepted a position in the Branch Manager training program offered by one of the big banks. Besides required courses in University, this was his first exposure to finance, outside of the Sunday Family dinner conversations. This job led him to Windsor where he had his first exposure with the opportunity to provide financial advice to his clients. It was during these informative early career years, that Mike decided to focus on providing investment advice to his clients. Mike became an Investment Advisor in 1998, when he joined the Windsor office of BMO Nesbitt Burns. In 2002 he returned to London to continue growing his business and to start his family. In 2012 Mike became the Assistant Branch Manager for the London office of BMO Nesbitt Burns, in addition to his Investment Advisor role. The added responsibility quickly reinforced the values of being efficient, organized and detail oriented. It also provided an opportunity to mentor upcoming Investment Advisors and thus play a role in shaping their careers.
Mike and his wife Jennifer, now call London home. They are raising 3 children, Hannah, Sam and Gabe. Outside of work, the whole family can be found on the ski hill every weekend in the winter and then the rest of the year catching up on what did not get done all winter! Mike has coached all three of his kids at various levels of soccer, volunteered at their schools, worked the clock/scoreboard/timekeeping at all sorts of activities when needed. Mike recently joined the Resource Planning and Audit Committee of St. Joseph’s Health Care London. He added this role after enjoying being a committee member on the Investment Subcommittee of St. Joseph’s.
