Melanie Segal is a dedicated and loyal investment advisor. She began her career in the investment industry in 1994, joining what was then Burns Fry – she has the distinction of having been at BMO Nesbitt Burns for her whole career. It is with this same dedication and philosophy that she treats her clientele.
Melanie's clients consist of high net worth families, professionals and charities. With a fine balance of closely listening to her clients and actively providing valuable advice, she specializes in building portfolios that cater to her client’s individual goals and needs. As a Portfolio Manager with discretionary capabilities, Melanie is able to make investment decisions on her client’s behalf, allowing her clients to focus on their families, work, and life. With this in mind, her focus is on the preservation of capital and doing what is right for the client.
Prior to joining the investment industry, she worked in commercial real estate in her native city of Montreal, as well as in the Maritimes and Eastern Ontario. Melanie holds a BA from the University of Western Ontario and the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation. She is actively involved with the Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO), through which she has studied at Harvard University with the Leading High Growth Businesses programs versions 1.0 and 2.0. Melanie is a member of the Board of Directors of First Narayever Congregation, and has engaged with other organizations performing charitable work in Ethiopia, the former Soviet Union, Israel, Lithuania and Poland.
Melanie lives in Toronto with her husband Dan and their two daughters. With a clear perspective on what is important in life, after losing her father in 2016 Melanie and her family visited Australia to meet a gentleman who survived the Holocaust with Melanie’s father.
