Shari-compliant portfolios
My team and I have the knowledge and ability to structure a Sharia-compliant, or halal, portfolio. Familiar with the rules that govern the way Muslims can invest, I can build a meaningful portfolio that honours your values, religious beliefs and growth objectives. I use a portfolio manager for the Sharia compliant strategy.
We will:
- Structure your portfolio strictly around Sharia compliance rules:
- Invest only in environmentally and socially responsible companies with good governance.
- Avoid companies involved with alcohol, tobacco, financials, adult entertainment, gambling, pork products, interest-bearing businesses, weaponry, advertising and media (newspapers are allowed, sub-industries are analyzed individually), entertainment industries, and companies that trade gold and silver as cash on a deferred basis.
- Constrain your portfolio to companies that adhere to strict financial leverage criteria, avoiding highly leveraged businesses such as derivatives and swaps.
- Keep your interest-bearing securities separate from your equity securities so you can easily gift the interest for philanthropic purposes.
- Ensure your portfolio is screened by Islamic scholars.
