Bruna Kubay, B.A, CFP®

Investment Advisor & Financial PLanner

Bruna has been in the Financial Services Industry since 2001. Following graduation from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Bruna joined the financial services team at BMO Bank of Montreal and then later joined another major Canadian bank as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional in the downtown Toronto area. During her tenure, Bruna provided affluent clients, entrepreneurs, professionals and families with holistic financial plans, investment strategies and insurance advice to help them reach their financial goals.

As a long-time resident and supporter of the ever changing Hamilton, Ontario, Bruna is an active member of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and various other community organizations.

Away from the office, Bruna is married with two daughters; Mia and Madison. Bruna loves to travel, read a good book, and garden in her spare time.

Carla was born and raised in the community of Stoney Creek where she has spent the last 30 years of her career with a major Canadian bank helping clients with all things financial. Her dedication and passion in assisting clients meet their financial goals has earned her a reputation like no other. 
As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional Carla places her clients' needs first, practices with honesty and integrity and uses her patient nature to understand her clients' holistic needs before devising an investment and financial plan to stand the test of time.

Carla speaks fluent Italian.

Carla is married to Ivano, a local Stoney Creek business owner. In her spare time Carla enjoys spending time with her family, reading and cooking.

Corri is our dedicated Administrative Associate, she has been in the financial service industry since 2002. She handles day to day client administration, client contact and Special Events. Corri manages a busy household with two growing boys and a busy husband

Darren Knott CFP®, CLU, ChFC

Estate & Insurance Advisor

 Darren graduated from the University of Guelph with a BA in Economics and entered the financial industry in 1987 with a large Canadian life insurance company. He went on to obtain the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (CH.F.C.) designations. Darren joined the BMO Nesbitt Burns Estate and Insurance Planning team in September of 2015 after spending the last 14 years with a major Canadian bank.  Darren served on the Board of Directors for three years with The Learning Disabilities Association of London-Middlesex as well as with ADVOCIS on London's Board of Directors for eight years, including a one year tenure in the role of President.
Darren is a specialist at insurance based estate planning strategies. His objective is to help families and businesses transfer wealth in an efficient and tax advantaged manner. He put plans into place that minimize the impact of taxation to you now and to your estate in the future.

James Waters BBA, CFP®, CIWM
Director, Wealth Planning at BMO Wealth Management


At BMO, James is part of an integrated team of in-house technical specialists that work together to facilitate the delivery of customized solutions to address the unique and complex needs of clients. James has been in the Wealth Management industry for nearly a decade.  During this time he has worked at boutique investment firms, large insurance companies and as a subject matter expert for Moody’s Analytics.  James has experience with the creation and implementation of complex financial plans to service high net worth families and individuals including professionals, executives, business owners and professional athletes.

Outside of work, James enjoys competing in sports including softball, golf, and hockey or coaching ski racing and soccer.  If you do not see him creating a yard sale on the hill, tripping over the blue line or trapped in a golf bunker, he is likely on a hike with his family around one of the many trails in Hamilton.  James currently resides with his wife and family in Burlington.



John W. Waters, C.A., CFP®, TEP 
VP & Head of Tax, Estate and Trust

John's areas of expertise include personal tax and corporate tax for private corporations as well as financial and estate planning for high net worth individuals, executives and entrepreneurs.
Before joining BMO Nesbitt Burns, John was employed by a large, international accounting firm as a senior member of the Toronto High Net Worth tax practice. John has also assisted in the design and execution of executive compensation plans and has experience in a wide range of planning scenarios involving the taxation of individuals, corporations, trusts and partnerships.
John is a Chartered Accountant (CA), CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (TEP). He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm.) from Queen's University.

Irit Gertzbein, B.A., D.C.S., B.Ed., LL.B.
Director, Trusts and Estates

Irit has extensive experience as a trusts and estates lawyer at major Toronto law firms, focusing on estate planning, estate administration and estate litigation. Her areas of expertise include Wills, Trusts, powers of attorney, joint tenancy and other structures of property ownership used as tools in the implementation of a variety of estate planning strategies.
Irit has published numerous articles on trusts and estates law and was an assistant editor of the Ontario Bar Association's Trusts and Estates Section newsletter Deadbeat, as well as a past contributor to Advising the Family-Owned Business, a publication by Canada Law Book. Irit is a participating member of the Statutory Review sub-committee of the Ontario Bar Association and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Linda Leung, CPA, TEP 
Director, US Tax Planning

Linda is responsible for providing Investment Advisors and their clients with Canadian and US tax planning support.
Before joining BMO, Linda was a member of a global tax team at a large consulting firm where she assisted individuals in understanding the Canadian, US and international tax implications of their various forms of compensation. Prior to that, she was employed by a large, international accounting firm in their International Assignment Services and Small Business tax groups. Linda has expertise in US personal tax matters and can provide guidance on cross-border personal income tax issues. In her previous role, Linda was also involved in the design and execution of global executive compensation and share plans.
Linda is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (TEP).
