The hard and unfortunate reality is that divorce is a fact of life for many Canadian families. It is one of the most trying emotional times a person can go through - ranking third behind the death of a child or spouse on the stress scale - and it can require a vast support system of people that could include family, lawyers, financial planners, and therapists.
Brian understands this reality well and has been successful in helping numerous clients' transition through the painful process of divorce. Brian is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® or CFP® professional, and has developed a specialty in teaching people in their 50’s and 60’s, who are transitioning through a separation or divorce, how to avoid some of the most costly financial mistakes.
Brian’s process involves helping people understand the very common financial mistakes that people can make surrounding the division of property, their budget, the matrimonial home, support payments, taxes, and inflation. In addition, he advises people on how to protect their credit rating throughout the process of divorce. In doing so, Brian has saved many divorcees thousands of dollars in extended legal battles and helped preserve their assets and increase the income that they will receive post-divorce.
Brian has taught financial planning courses surrounding divorce at George Brown College. He has also been a guest speaker at the University of Toronto and the Jewish Family and Child.
